Commission for the Advancement of Healthcare
Technology Management in Asia (CAHTMA) was established to
provide a platform for healthcare professionals to discuss and
exchange ideas on healthcare technologies and practices. Central to these
objectives are the promotion of optimum technology management practices, the
certification of clinical engineering practitioners and healthcare
professionals, and the dissemination of appropriate management tools through
seminars and workshops.
Healthcare professionals within the region have long been
deprived of information on applicable technologies and management tools used to
manage hospitals and healthcare organizations. CAHTMA completes the chain for the provision of these technologies and tools to
the healthcare industry.
Equipment and healthcare technology users should be competent in
handling applicable tools while providing services to the patients and/or
customers. Such assessment is important in ensuring only competent healthcare
professionals are allowed to utilize these tools during the provision of
services. CAHTMA offers such assessment in the form of examinations and
certifications.
Having a competent engineering team to maintain biomedical
equipment at the hospitals ensures that biomedical equipment is properly
maintained and is safe for use. In addition, assessment for hospital
accreditation requires that only competent technical personnel are assigned for
the maintenance work. CAHTMA certifies these clinical engineering practitioners
for competency and thus facilitates employment at the hospitals.
